Come celebrate poetry on March 31st with Poets In The Round at Birdhouse Books in Vancouver, WA.
This poetry event is hosted and curated by Igor Bjorn Brezhnev. Starting at 5PM Robert Lashley, Morgan Paige, Joshi Bauscher, Red O'Hare and Igor will read poems in turn creating a poetic conversation. There'll be plenty of time to mingle and meet the poets as well.
About the Poets:
Robert Lashley was a 2016 Jack Straw Fellow, Artist Trust Fellow, and a nominee for a Stranger Genius Award. His books include Green River Valley (Blue Cactus Press, 2021), Up South (Small Doggies Press, 2017), and The Homeboy Songs (Small Doggies Press, 2014). His poetry has appeared in The Seattle Review of Books, NAILED, Poetry Northwest, McSweeney’s, and The Cascadia Review, among others. In 2019, Entropy named The Homeboy Songs one of the 25 essential books to come out of Seattle.
Morgan Paige is a poet, visual artist and entrepreneur residing in Kalama, WA. Her first poetry chapbook and poetry album, Lick the Psychic, was released October 2019 by Lightship Press and recorded by Shady Pines Media. It takes you on a playful, chanting ride, exploring themes of femininity, psychedelia and the life/death/life cycle. More at: morganpaigepoetry.com
Joshi Bauscher (he/him) is a poet, photographer, adventurer, digital artist, herbalist, wizard, and squire who has too many hats and not enough time to wear them all. Author of 4 self-published poetry collections, former coach of the SUNY Geneseo Slam Poetry Team, and a Nitty Gritty, Albany Regional Poetry Slam, and Slamlandia Champion. Joshi aspires to one day become the first King of America once everyone recognizes this whole Democratic Republic thing was a mistake and that it's time to give good old monarchy another shot. His only claim to the throne: he called dibs.
Red O'Hare is a West Coast based Jewish American Poet. She was born during the Reagan administration to the child of Jewish immigrant Carnies and that of stalwart Presbyterian missionaries. She believes in boots and ghosts. Her dog is named after a Doctor Who character, but you have to guess which one. Red has been writing and performing poetry since she was 15 years old in California's San Fernando Valley. She's competed in poetry slams but has never won, has been featured at Wordlights, The Last Stand at Wildwood Saloon, The Nest, Portland Poetry Slam, Ghost Town Poetry, and The Crow's Nest to name a few. She has also performed at Studio Morey, Fused Creative's show Leave Me On Read, Telltale PDX's show This Is What We Need, The Brewery Artist's Lofts, The Anna Broome Room, and KBOO Radio's Talking Earth poetry series, hosted by Dan Raphael. Igor Bjorn Brezhnev is a poet, multidisciplinary artist, publisher and book designer, among his other sins. Igor is an author of two full-length poetry collections and numerous chapbooks. He is a co-founder of Lightship Press, a small press in Portland, Oregon dedicated to publishing poetry. He also hosts Wordlights Poetry Showcase and Plotting Poetry Podcast and on occasion performs poetry with The New Name Band.
